World View

stratosphere
Operating in:US

World View operates Stratollite balloons at ~20km altitude — the stratospheric sweet spot between commercial airspace and orbital mechanics — providing persistent wide-area ISR with sub-100ms latency and centimeter-level resolution.

Products

Stratollite

balloonsemi-autonomousstratosphere

Stratollite is a stratospheric balloon platform designed for persistent high-altitude observation and data collection.

Max Altitude
23000 m
Payload
50 kg
Tech Specifications

Multi-spectral sensors, high-altitude comms, stratospheric navigation protocols, standard aerospace certifications.

Software & AI

Custom navigation software with real-time APIs for control and data relay.

Integration Possibilities

Compatible with major C2 systems, can relay data in STANAG and other military formats, integratable with partner satellite data systems.

Why This Design

Solves the need for near-satellite performance at a fraction of the cost, with the benefit of prolonged station-keeping over a target area.

Enables

Enables long-duration missions without the need for immediate satellite access, offering flexible mission planning and real-time data feedback.

Tradeoffs

Limited payload capacity compared to satellites, and dependent on favorable weather conditions for deployment and operation.

Integrations

Palantir AIP ↔ World View Stratollite

Palantir AI Flight Director sends mission tasking to the Stratollite, which runs SkyWeaver edge AI on-board for local inference without cloud connectivity. ISR imagery is processed on the balloon and only compressed intelligence (not raw video) is downlinked.
